Power plant: water supply boiler and circulating water

Thermal power plants use many groups of centrifugal pumps with very different characteristics: boiler water pump, water pump, cooling water circulation pump and auxiliary pumps.

High level water pump.

As a very high-pressure multi-layer pump, water supply at high temperature, near saturation, so NPSH is extremely important. There is often a booster pump at the suction end to deliver sufficient NPSH to the main pump, and a minimum flow pathway to avoid overheating when the flow is low.

Stop the water pump.

The drainage from the well stops in the vacuum, water is near saturation so NPSH is available is very small. So the pump is usually a multi-layer standing type placed in the sink, taking advantage of the static water column to satisfy NPSH.

Weekly pumping water.

Very large flow, low pressure column; either use axis or mixed directional pumps, or two-door pumping shells sometimes divide the pressure column higher. Just a few percent increase in performance also saves considerable electricity because the pump runs continuously.

The joint request.

• Rapid start-up, high reliability because a broken pump can force the entire machinery to reduce the load.
• 2×100% or 3×50% depending on the role.
• Track vibrations, bearing temperature, leakage and wing slit wear to assess performance deterioration.
