Dry, condensate and vacuum filter in pharmaceuticals

The pharmaceutical line needs "clean" vacuum: there is no reverse oil pumping vapor on the device, as oil contamination can cause the entire production batch to be removed. The compression chamber of the liquid ring pump has no lubricant, which is why this pump is widely used in drying, concentrating and solvent filtration.

The typical stages.

• Vacuum drying in filter-drying equipment or conical dryer at low temperature to protect the active substance.
• She specialises the extract, recovering solvents such as ethanol or acetone.
• Filter the vacuum, smoke through the filter.

GMP requirements for pumps

The contact material is typically 316L stainless steel, smooth surface, easy to clean, with material retrieval profile and measuring equipment calibration. The ring liquid is not flowing back into the device so it needs a one-way valve and bottle separation at the suction line.

Management of fluids.

A closed week with a heat exchanger avoids waste of water and wastewater containing solvents. Liquid replacement and periodic hygiene are required so as not to accumulate microbes or congestion.

Limitations need to be known.

The non-extreme foot is limited by the steam pressure of the ring fluid, about 30–40 mbar with water at 25–30 °C. The dry period requires a much deeper vacuum, so use another pump, or place an additional pressure pump in the front.
